# Getting Started

A guided tour of the NetSuite Admin side of SphericalBRM + POS: what you do as a NetSuite Administrator and how this guide is organized.

Welcome to the
space.vars.productName
NetSuite Admin Guide. This guide is written for the NetSuite Administrator who manages your organization's NetSuite environment through the browser.

## What Is
space.vars.productName
?

space.vars.productName
(Business Resource Management) is a SuiteApp for NetSuite that gives your organization customizable portals for employees, customers, vendors, and partners. These portals can include:

* **Point of Sale (POS):** Process in-store sales and returns
* **Product Catalogs:** Browse and order products
* **Order Forms:** Create and manage transactions
* **Dashboards:** View reports and key metrics
* **Self-Service Portals:** Let customers and vendors manage their own accounts

Every portal is built directly on top of your existing NetSuite data, so there's no duplicate data entry or syncing to maintain.

## What Does the NetSuite Admin Do?

As the NetSuite Administrator for
space.vars.productName
, your responsibilities include:

* **Installing and updating:** Installing the
space.vars.productName
SuiteApp in NetSuite and applying updates when In8Sync releases new versions.
* **Managing user access:** Enabling portal access for employees, customers, and other users, and assigning them the right roles.
* **Setting up integrations:** Connecting third-party services like tax calculation or payment processing.
* **Troubleshooting:** Diagnosing and resolving common issues that users report.

You don't need to write any scripts or work with development tools. Everything in this guide can be done from inside the NetSuite browser interface.

## Before You Begin

To follow this guide, you'll need:

* A NetSuite account with the **Administrator** role or equivalent full-access role
* Access to the NetSuite browser interface

{% hint style="info" %}
If you're setting up
space.vars.productName
for the first time, start with the [Installation Checklist](/netsuite-admin-guide/overview/installation-checklist.md) and work through the Getting Started section in order.
{% endhint %}

## Common setup scenarios

Three scenarios cover most first deployments. Each one starts with you, then hands off to a Client Admin.

### Setting up a new register

* Activate your licence — see [Licensing & Activation](/netsuite-admin-guide/overview/licensing.md).
* Connect a payment processor and enable the payment methods you accept — see [Payment Settings](/netsuite-admin-guide/overview-1/payment-settings.md).
* Confirm at least one location exists. Payment credentials and hardware pairing are set per location.
* On the subsidiary setup, configure **POS Assignment**: which locations and registers each employee can use, and how they sign in.

A Client Admin then builds the register page and publishes the cashier workflow.

### Selling to B2B customers

* Create or confirm the customer's NetSuite record, including entity type and the price level they should use.
* Optionally set up **customer hold rules** to put certain orders into approval automatically, based on credit limit, order type, or payment method.

A Client Admin then configures the B2B workflow and provisions the buyer's login. If you enabled hold rules, they'll also build the approval step.

### Setting up a vendor or partner portal

* Confirm the vendor or partner has a NetSuite record, and that there are purchase orders for them to see.
* Confirm their contact has NetSuite login credentials.

{% hint style="info" %}
Returns have no NetSuite Admin stage. That flow starts with a Client Admin choosing which return pattern to build.
{% endhint %}

### When it goes wrong

* **Payment button does nothing at checkout** — no payment method is enabled, or none is mapped to a NetSuite tender.
* **Customer pricing looks wrong** — the customer's price level doesn't match what the workflow expects.
* **Vendor or partner sees no records** — their record isn't linked correctly, or the records don't exist yet.
* **An employee can't sign in to a register** — check POS Assignment on the subsidiary setup: the register's location must be in their allowed locations, and the login behaviour must be set.
