# Getting Started

A tour of the Client Admin Portal — the Dashboard you land on, what's in the top bar and sidebar, and where to find the things you'll work on every day

The **Client Admin Portal** is the control center for your <code class="expression">space.vars.productName</code> deployment. It's where you create users, build workflows and pages, manage product catalogs, and review reports — all in the browser, without touching NetSuite directly.

{% hint style="info" %}
The Client Admin and the **NetSuite Admin** are two views of the same app. The Client Admin handles day-to-day configuration; the NetSuite Admin handles system-level setup such as subsidiaries, themes, payments and printers. Switch between them in the top bar — the toggle only appears if your account has both roles.
{% endhint %}

## The Dashboard

Signing in lands you on the **Dashboard**. It's deliberately light — a welcome card and confirmation you're in the right subsidiary. Your real work happens in the sidebar sections.

{% hint style="info" %}
The product **version number** sits in the footer at the bottom of every screen, not just the Dashboard.
{% endhint %}

## The top bar

The top bar runs across every page and gives you four controls:

| Control                                  | What it does                                                                 |
| ---------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **NetSuite Admin / Client Admin toggle** | Switches the view. Only appears for accounts with both roles. |
| **Theme switch** | Light or dark mode. |
| **Subsidiary selector** | Switches which subsidiary you're configuring. The current one is named here. |
| **Profile menu** | Your account, settings, and sign-out. |

## The sidebar

Your primary navigation. It stays visible wherever you are.

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th>Section</th><th>What you do here</th><th data-hidden data-card-target data-type="content-ref"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>User Management</strong></td><td>Give people access, assign roles, and manage who can do what.</td><td><a href="/client-admin-guide/managing-users.md">User Management</a></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Catalogs</strong></td><td>Create and manage product catalogs, pricing, and availability.</td><td><a href="/client-admin-guide/creating-catalogs.md">Catalogs</a></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Categories</strong></td><td>Configure the product category tree for this subsidiary.</td><td><a href="/client-admin-guide/categories-overview.md">Categories</a></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Workflow Builder</strong></td><td>Define the portal experience for each role. ### Active Workflows

Below the standard sections, the sidebar shows a live list of every published workflow on this subsidiary, grouped by entity type — Employee, Customer, Vendor and Partner. Click a workflow name to jump straight into its builder, or the **+** button to create one.

## Working in the main area

Most sections follow a **list-and-detail** pattern: a list of workflows, users or catalogs on the landing page, and a detail view when you click one.

Most edits save automatically or prompt you before you navigate away. The Page Builder is the exception — page changes don't reach your users until you **publish**, so it's safe to experiment.

## What to do next

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-target data-type="content-ref"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Your First Day</strong></td><td>A hands-on walkthrough — customize a workflow, design a page, give a user access.</td><td><a href="/client-admin-guide/admin-app-overview/your-first-day.md">Your First Day</a></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Key Admin Concepts</strong></td><td>Workflows, modules, roles, components — the vocabulary used across every page.</td><td><a href="/client-admin-guide/admin-app-overview/key-admin-concepts.md">Key Admin Concepts</a></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Workflow Builder</strong></td><td>Where most of your configuration time will go.</td><td><a href="/client-admin-guide/workflow-builder-overview.md">Workflows</a></td></tr></tbody></table>
